KOTA KINABALU: Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) information chief Azis Jamman said the party is focusing on building and organising its resources ahead of possible early elections in the state.
“We are conducting a state tour to help party members understand our goals, explain current issues, sign up for new members, and more, so that we can better prepare for a possible snap election.
“Warisan is in preliminary discussions with Umno to explore the possibility of cooperation in the upcoming elections in Sabah state, which must be held by December 2025,” he told FMT News Portal today.
Azis said the party is still evaluating possible pacts with various political parties to face the next election.
“As of now, we are in communication with Umno to see if there are any mutual agreements and understandings (that can be reached) between our two parties to face Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS),” he said.
He confirmed that negotiations were still in the early stages and said the leaders of UMNO and Warisan would make an official announcement before the state polls.
On Aug 17, Sabah chief minister Hajiji Noor said the state’s ruling coalition plans to apply the “unity government” approach in the next state polls.
