He said his confidence was based on the growing support of the people for the party.

“Although KDM is only a small party, we have proven our ability to defeat the giant Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) in the Kota Marudu parliament constituency in the last general election.

“Similarly in the Tenom area, if the people are united and work hard, I believe that not only will we win in Melalap, we can also capture the Kemabong seat,” he said.

Peter said this in his speech in conjunction with the Melalap Community “Santai” Program at OKK Datuk Sanggau Hall, Melalap near here today.

Also present was KDM Deputy President Datuk Wetrom Bahanda.

He said KDM is also eyeing contesting for more seats, especially in the Kadazandusun Murut (KDM) majority areas, in the next state election.

Peter said that although KDM supports the Unity government at the federal level, at the state level, KDM seems to be sidelined.

“This is a unique situation. Whatever it is, it is not an obstacle for us to continue fighting and protecting the rights of the people of Sabah,” he said.
