KOTA KINABALU: The 10th edition of the Sabah International Expo (SIE2023), one of the biggest expositions in Sabah and also the largest in the BIMP-EAGA region, will be held at Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) here from Sept 21-24.
Federation of Sabah Industries (FSI) President, Richard Lim, who is also the Organising Chairman of SIE2023, said SIE2023 will be more interesting as it has attracted participants from many foreign countries like Thailand which is coming in a big way with 70 booths confirmed.
He said the others are from Brunei, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, China, Korea, Australia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Vietnam as well as the neighbouring state Sarawak.
“SIE2023 is very special because this time it will be jointly organised by FSI and the Sabah State Government, which is for the first time since SIE was first held in 2000. FSI is very grateful to the State Government for being our partner as a joint organiser for this event.
“We are also appreciative of the great support given by the State Government to FSI and SIE since the very beginning,” he said, adding the past nine editions of SIE were jointly organised by FSI and the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) with the support of the Sabah State Government.
Lim said this when leading an FSI delegation in paying a courtesy call on Deputy Chief Minister II Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam at his office in Wisma Innoprise, here, today (July 13).
Lim said SIE2023 will kick off with the Sabah International Business Luncheon Talk 2023 (SIBLT 2023) to be held on Sept 21, followed by a welcoming dinner hosted by the State Government at the same venue.
He also shared FSI’s plan to make SIE an annual event, instead of biennially, to be able to attract more foreign investors and tourists to Sabah.
“We plan to organise SIE every year because we already have SICC, the biggest convention centre in Sabah. Through SIE, we hope to help attract more foreign investors and tourists to Sabah,” he said.
