Petronas trains 168 varsity students in Digital Upskilling

KOTA KINABALU; Petronas has trained 168 students from four institutions of higher learning in Sabah in digital upskilling through Petronas BeDigital Bootcamp, which was introduced last year.
Petronas senior vice-president of Project Delivery and Technology, Datuk Bacho Pilong, said the curated programme was to help participants improve their digital knowledge as well as enhance their skills in communication and handling interviews with better confidence.
“After the success of the first and second cohorts last year, not only we are increasing the number of students for each cohort this year, but also bringing the programme to Sarawak, Terengganu and Kelantan,” he said in a statement today.
He said that the first two cohorts which were conducted last year accommodated 68 students from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sabah, Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) and North Borneo University College (NBUC).
The third cohort was conducted at Kota Kinabalu last month and attracted 100 students from these four institutions.
As many as 34 students were offered employment by Petronas Group, Sabah Energy Corporation (SEC) and Tata Consultancy Services Malaysia Bhd.
Bacho said that this year’s event saw the involvement of additional partners, including FPT Software Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Asian Supply Base Sdn Bhd and Sawit Kinabalu Sdn Bhd.
Also participating are Petronas Group’s Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering (MMHE) Holding Bhd, KLCC Urus Harta Sdn Bhd, Petrosains Sdn Bhd and Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (Sabah Asset)
A total of 39 students received conditional job offers from some of these partners.
