TUARAN: Bersatu and Umno here will form a joint-election machinery in Sulaman and Pantai Dalit to ensure victory for Tuaran Parliament candidate Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.
Chief Minister and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman, Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor said both parties will work very hard to ensure the GRS candidate wins comfortably in the 15th General Elections here.
Speaking at the gathering with Umno Tuaran and Bersatu Tuaran divisions’ leaders at Dewan Seri Sulaman here, Hajiji said the decision to field Joniston who is Kiulu Assemblyman from Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) was made in the interest of the constituents.
GRS was formed on an understanding that it was time for all to work together to develop Sabah, he said.
“We must not repeat past mistakes. Too much politicking that the responsibility to develop the State was not carried out,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that the reason that Sabah is the second poorest state in Malaysia despite having so much resourcea was due to too much political bickerings.
“So it is time that we stop these political bickerings and concentrate to develop the state instead,” he said.
Present at the gathering were Assistant Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Joniston Bangkuai who is GRS candidate for Tuaran, Umno Tuaran chief and Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for Kota Belud and Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Jasnih Daya who is also Umno Tuaran deputy chief and Pantai Dalit assemblyman.
