KOTA BELUD: The responsibility of educating children should not rest on teachers only as parents should also play their part, said former Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak.
According to him, parents play an important role in encouraging their children to excel in their studies.
As such, Salleh said parents and teachers should work hand in hand to ensure students succeed.
“Parents, especially in the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) should be involved in school activities to promote students’ success and improve the school’s academic performance,” he said.
Salleh, who is also Usukan State Assemblyman, said this in his speech when opening the PTA annual general meeting of SMK Pekan, here today.
Earlier, Salleh attended the Outstanding Achievement Award Ceremony for SPM and STPM students of SMK Agama Tun Said, here.
In his speech, he said the government is serious about children’s education in the country.
To this end, Salleh said the government allocated RM746 million in the 2022 budget to upgrade dilapidated schools throughout the country.
He said most of the allocation was channelled to undertake 112 projects to upgrade dilapidated schools in Sabah.
