PAPAR: Serving as community and grassroots leaders, JKKKs and JPKKs are also the eyes and ears of the government.
And as an extension to the Government’s delivery system, these grassroots leaders have the responsibility to disseminate information about its policies and programs to the people in their respective areas, said Limbahau Community Development Leader Datuk Johnny Mositun.
“Your close rapport with the villagers in your kampungs means they will not hesitate to tell you issues affecting them. Gather up all these information and refer them to the relevant authorities for further action,” he said.
According to Mositun, it is important that issues affecting the rakyat be brought to the attention of the Government so that remedial action can be implemented.
He said this after presenting the JPKK Limbahau corporate shirt to grassroots leaders in 40 villages in the constituency on Monday.
During the event Mositun also handed over food baskets to 45 families in DUN Limbahau respectively who are under quarantine for Covid-19.
“I urge all grassroots leaders to always communicate with the villagers about the current situation with Covid-19 in the state. Please ensure that the villagers abide with the SOPs implemented.
“This is your responsibility in helping to stem the spread of the Covid-19 virus,” he said.
Mositun also said that as community leaders, the JPKKs must also be on the ground to gather information about those who are under quarantine for Covid-19.
This is so assistance can be rendered to them, he added.
Commenting on the high number of Covid-19 cases reported yesterday, Mositun said that although the virus is already in the community, the rakyat still need to be very vigilant in complying with the SOPs.
Face masks must always be worn and social distancing must be practiced, Mositun.
“We must all do our best to keep the number of infections in the state from going up further,” he said.
