RANAU,– Yayasan PETRONAS in collaboration with PETRONAS Sabah and Labuan ushers in the year-end festive season by delivering care and Christmas gift packs to B40 families and beneficiaries from welfare centres in the state and in the island.
The distribution kicked off in Kota Marudu on 16 December where the Foundation distributed care packs with Christmas gifts comprising items such as a forehead thermometer, pulse oximeter, hand sanitisers, COVID-19 self-test kits and essential food items to Pusat Jagaan St Theresa Hostel.
It was concluded on Dec 23 with the distribution of care packs at the Ranau District Welfare Department, attended by nominated assemblyman Datuk Amisah Yassin, representing Minister of Local Government and Housing and Karanaan assemblyman Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun.
The contribution is part of Yayasan PETRONAS’ Sentuhan Kasih programme across Malaysia, involving B40 families and beneficiaries from various orphanages, old folk’s homes and welfare centres, with a total contribution worth RM481,897.
Head of PETRONAS Sabah and Labuan Siti Ayu Abdul Wahab said the Sentuhan Kasih programme is a continuation of PETRONAS’ tradition of reaching out to the community during major festive seasons such as Chinese New Year, Aidilfitri, Kaamatan, Gawai, Deepavali, and Christmas.
“At the same time, it also aims at nurturing and enhancing the spirit of giving and volunteerism among PETRONAS’ employees, and providing them with a platform to interact and engage with the people of various communities,” she said at the handing over of contribution to the beneficiaries, here.
In Sabah, the contribution reaches five welfare homes namely Taman Didikan Kanak-Kanak Kurang Upaya (Kudat), Pusat Jagaan St Theresa Hostel (Kota Marudu), Tolumis Care Centre (Tuaran), Taman Didikan Kanak-Kanak Kurang Upaya (Kota Kinabalu), and Caring for the Future Malaysia Children Home (Papar), as well as B40 families in Penampang, Pitas, Beaufort, and Ranau, involving a total of 742 recipients.
