KOTA KINABALU: UMNO Ex Treasurer, Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak congratulated Dato Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob for his appointment as the new Prime Minister.
“May he be given the strength to lead us to overcome the pandemic, economic and political crisis as soon as possible,” he said in his latest facebook entry.
Ismail Sabri who is also UMNO’s vice president was today appointed as the Ninth Prime Minister of Malaysia.
According to a statement issued by the Istana Negara, the appointment was supported by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong A;-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.
Ismail Sabri, 61, was the Deputy Prime Minister before being appointed for the Prime Ministerial job following Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s decision to vacate the seat on August 16 after losing the majority support by members of parliament.
