KOTA KINABALU: Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Dr Roland Chia Ming Shen commended the private sector for their assistance to combat Covid-19 in Sabah.
He said that he has recently visited the vaccination centre in Sutera Harbour, near here.
“I was received by Dr Prabakharan Solomon AL Dhanaraj, the Principal Assistant Director of Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Sabah (Sabah Health Department). This visit was to encourage the front-liners and the hotel management for spearheading this private-public partnership vaccination programme,” said Dr Roland.
He added that Dr Prabakharan Solomon briefed him that the vaccination centre can vaccinate up to 400 people per day and covered the area of Kota Kinabalu and Putatan.
The centre operates on a six-days week.
“I am grateful to the private sector for coming forward offering their venue and their resources to the Ministry of Health and the Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Sabah as vaccination centres,” he said.
Dr Roland also commended the Tzu Chi Foundation volunteers who offered their voluntary services in assisting in the non-clinical aspects of the vaccination process.
“I hope and I welcome more community volunteers to sign up with Jabatan Kesihatan Negeri Sabah to assist the existing health front-liners,” he said.
Dr Roland hopes the community understand that all the government agencies both state and federal levels are doing their utmost best to fight the pandemic.
“The public should not shy away from vaccination and instead must encourage one another to come forward to register and be vaccinated. In order to beat this pandemic, herd immunity is paramaount to move forward,” he said.
