LABUAN (BERNAMA): More than 40 Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates of SMK Taman Perumahan Bedaun here underwent COVID-19 screening this morning after one its teachers tested positive on Friday, said Labuan Health director Dr Ismuni Bohari.
“As one teacher had tested positive in the school, we have taken the necessary action by getting all the students who were close contacts to undergo the tests this morning…certainly, we will take the appropriate action after the results are released,” he told Bernama.
Dr Ismuni said based on the briefing from the Labuan Education Department, the infected teacher had taught in two classes prior to the release of his COVID-19 test results.
The teachers who were close contacts with him were advised to self-quarantine and undergo tests should they show symptoms,” he said.
Labuan has recorded 2,184 cases as of Friday with 13 deaths. The duty-free island still has 75 active cases with three patients in the intensive care unit (ICU).– BERNAMA
