{"id":7703,"date":"2021-11-05T15:22:26","date_gmt":"2021-11-05T07:22:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/?p=7703"},"modified":"2021-11-05T15:22:26","modified_gmt":"2021-11-05T07:22:26","slug":"sarawak-polls-gps-has-discussed-seat-allocation-among-component-parties-abang-jo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/2021\/11\/05\/sarawak-polls-gps-has-discussed-seat-allocation-among-component-parties-abang-jo\/","title":{"rendered":"Sarawak polls: GPS has discussed seat allocation among component parties &#8211; Abang Jo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>By\u00a0Muhammad Ammar Shafiq Hamzah<\/p>\n<p>KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) has\u00a0already discussed the allocation of seats among its component parties for the upcoming Sarawak state election, GPS chairman Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.<br \/>\nHowever, he said it was still too early to announce the coalition\u2019s\u00a0list of candidates\u00a0and that he would reveal them in due course.<br \/>\n\u201cJust wait&#8230;the state assembly has just dissolved.\u00a0Don\u2019t rush,\u201d he told a press conference at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here today.<br \/>\nOn Oct 24, GPS secretary-general Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said GPS will contest all 82 seats in the next\u00a0state election.<br \/>\nGPS comprises Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Sarawak United People\u2019s Party (SUPP) and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP).<br \/>\nOn Wednesday, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri\u2019ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah consented to the revocation of the Proclamation of Emergency for Sarawak, which was promulgated on Aug 2 this year.<br \/>\nThe revocation of the Emergency Proclamation had paved the way for the 12th Sarawak state election to be held, as the state government\u2019s five-year tenure\u00a0had ended on June 6 this year.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, Abang Johari said the current GPS government is currently assuming the role of a caretaker government until the next government comes in.<br \/>\nYes, it is a normal transition when you dissolved the state assembly, the ruling government become the caretaker government.<br \/>\n\u201cAt the moment we cannot make major decisions.
