{"id":4846,"date":"2021-07-07T17:11:31","date_gmt":"2021-07-07T09:11:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/?p=4846"},"modified":"2021-07-07T17:11:31","modified_gmt":"2021-07-07T09:11:31","slug":"emco-police-use-drones-to-monitor-sop-compliance-in-kampung-penimbawan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/2021\/07\/07\/emco-police-use-drones-to-monitor-sop-compliance-in-kampung-penimbawan\/","title":{"rendered":"EMCO: Police use drones to monitor SOP compliance in Kampung Penimbawan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TUARAN: The geographical landscape of Kampung Penimbawan here which has hilly terrain and swamp forests has become a challenge for the authorities to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) in the village that has been placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, the police are\u00a0utilising the\u00a0drone technology\u00a0to make public announcements and monitor adherence to the SOPs set to curb\u00a0the spread of COVID-19.<br \/>\nTuaran district police chief DSP Mohd Hamizi Halim said the announcements and aerial surveillance of the\u00a0area\u00a0were carried out\u00a0using the G-12 UAV drone model.<br \/>\nConducted in collaboration with the Air Operations Force\u00a0and the Marine Operations Force, the monitoring of SOP compliance is\u00a0done not only on the seas and on land but also from the air,\u201d he told Bernama.<br \/>\nMohd Hamizi said the Marine Operations Force\u00a0was also\u00a0tasked with patrolling the coastal areas\u00a0to\u00a0ensure there\u00a0is\u00a0no\u00a0attempt to enter or\u00a0leave\u00a0the village without permission.<br \/>\nThe EMCO imposed on\u00a0Kampung Penimbawan \u00a0which has 2,062 residents has been extended\u00a0for another 14 days\u00a0until\u00a0July 12\u00a0to enable the Ministry of\u00a0Health (MOH)\u00a0to carry out\u00a0targeted\u00a0screening\u00a0on\u00a0all illagers\u00a0and subsequently to prevent\u00a0further\u00a0infection in the community.<br \/>\nLocated\u00a0on the\u00a0west coast\u00a0of\u00a0Sabah and\u00a0more than 65 kilometers from Kota Kinabalu, the village is also accessible by boat\u00a0via\u00a0the Kampung Serusop Jetty here.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, Tuaran district Health officer Dr Noraziah Bakrih said so far, the MOH has\u00a0taken COVID-19 test samples from\u00a01,452 residents,\u00a0of which 58 individuals were confirmed positive and had been taken to the quarantine centre.<br \/>\nShe said a total of 18\u00a0health workers from the Tuaran hospital have been deployed to the area to ensure a\u00a0smooth\u00a0implementation of the\u00a0screening process for the residents in Kampung Penimbawan.<br \/>\nDr Noraziah said during the EMCO period, the Kampung Penimbawan Rural Health Clinic would operate\u00a0as usual to provide treatment to the villagers with\u00a0mild symptoms such as fever, cough and flu.<br \/>\n&#8212; BERNAMA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>TUARAN: The geographical landscape of Kampung Penimbawan here which has hilly terrain and swamp forests has become a challenge for the authorities to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs) in the village that has been placed under the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).
