{"id":4055,"date":"2021-06-06T13:22:25","date_gmt":"2021-06-06T05:22:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/?p=4055"},"modified":"2021-06-06T13:22:25","modified_gmt":"2021-06-06T05:22:25","slug":"covid-hari-raya-visits-trigger-new-cluster-in-sabah-masidi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/2021\/06\/06\/covid-hari-raya-visits-trigger-new-cluster-in-sabah-masidi\/","title":{"rendered":"COVID: Hari Raya visits trigger new cluster in Sabah &#8211; Masidi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KOTA KINABALU: Visits during the recent Hari Raya celebration\u00a0have triggered a new cluster in Sabah, namely the Block 31 cluster in Tawau with 31 positive cases detected so far, said State Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun.<br \/>\nMasidi, who is also the state government&#8217;s spokesperson for COVID-19, said the index case is a 71-year-old housewife who tested positive after undergoing screening at the Tawau Hospital on May 27.<br \/>\n\u201cFollowing close contact screenings, nine tested positive, in addition to\u00a0the 21 new cases  on Saturday.<br \/>\nClose contact tracing is being intensified to detect the source of infection,&#8221; he said in a statement here on Saturday night.<br \/>\nAnother new cluster recorded today is the Gambaron workplace cluster in Telupid, with 12 positive cases so far.<br \/>\nThe index case is a 32-year-old man who developed cough and shortness of breath since May 26 before he was confirmed positive on June 2 after a screening at the Telupid Health Clinic.<br \/>\nThe index case is believed to have contracted the virus while attending a social gathering on May 22 at a cafe in Telupid and the spread of cases was also contributed by colleagues of the index case who have returned to high-risk areas in Tawau to celebrate Aidilfitri,&#8221; he said.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, Masidi said the number of COVID-19 positive cases in Sabah had dropped\u00a0to 259 cases from 287 cases on Friday.<br \/>\nHowever, he said the increase and decrease in cases in Sabah had not been static and currently only two districts in the state remained in the green zone category.<br \/>\nThe significant reduction in\u00a0green zones is most probably due to high non-compliance with SOPs.\u00a0 As such we urge the people\u00a0to stay at home and to those who have to go out to work,\u00a0limit your movement,\u201d he added.<br \/>\n&#8212; BERNAMA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KOTA KINABALU: Visits during the recent Hari Raya celebration\u00a0have triggered a new cluster in Sabah, namely the Block 31 cluster in Tawau with 31 positive cases detected so far, said State Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Masidi Manjun.
