KOTA KINABALU: Warisan President, Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal shot down the rumours of Warisan working with UMNO.<\/p>\n
He alleged that UMNO has indicated of cooperation with Warisan but stressed that cooperation must be a two-way street \/ traffic.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey don\u2019t ask us what we want\u2026they tell us what they want,\u201d he said during an online press conference held over Zoom.<\/p>\n
He reminded that cooperation is not a one-way traffic.<\/p>\n
Shafie however stated that the local party that Warisan is keen to have working ties with is Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), stating that it was because he understood PBS\u2019 sentiment and the struggle they are fighting for.<\/p>\n
Aside from that, he is also keen to work with PBS because it is a local Sabahan party and the party president, Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Johnity Ongkili is also a close friend.<\/p>\n
\u201c(If) we can work together, why not?<\/p>\n
\u201cBut it is up to them. I am thinking of Sabah\u2019s interest. I am just highlighting Sabah\u2019s rights and the rights of the people of Sabah. Why not?\u201d said Shafie. <\/p>\n
He stressed that he was not in contact with anyone, including PBS. “Max is an old friend of mine. I just mention. I never discussed. I am only hoping.”<\/p>\n
He injected that Warisan is able to work with anyone for the interest of the country and who doesn\u2019t take Sabah and Sarawak for granted. <\/p>\n
He said that it is also necessary for Warisan to form allies with \u2018brothers\u2019 from Semenanjung because the next election is important for the party.<\/p>\n
