{"id":3463,"date":"2021-04-25T17:12:08","date_gmt":"2021-04-25T09:12:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/?p=3463"},"modified":"2021-04-25T17:12:08","modified_gmt":"2021-04-25T09:12:08","slug":"queen-tells-young-people-to-be-brave-take-initiative-to-help-during-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/2021\/04\/25\/queen-tells-young-people-to-be-brave-take-initiative-to-help-during-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Queen tells young people to be brave, take initiative to help during COVID-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR: Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah has called\u00a0on\u00a0young people\u00a0to be brave, step up and take the initiative\u00a0to help the world recover to a better normal during the COVID-19\u00a0pandemic.<br \/>\nAddressing the Global\u00a0Youth Mobilisation virtually last\u00a0night,\u00a0Her Majesty\u00a0also said young people should be given opportunities and support to play their role as active contributing citizens of the world.<br \/>\nTunku Azizah\u00a0said\u00a0young people are full of energy, talents and creativity, and that the pandemic year had\u00a0shown how resourceful they were\u00a0in continuing to learn and adapt despite having major disruptions in their education.<br \/>\nWe have seen young people volunteering, supporting frontliners, raising public awareness and at the least being a responsible citizen by observing the guidelines in preventing the spread of COVID-19.<br \/>\n\u201cWe have also seen the efforts that youth organisations like the Big 6 have put in to ensure that learning does not stop for young people despite all the disruptions,\u201d she said in a video in conjunction with the Global Youth Mobilisation<br \/>\nHer Majesty said she was delighted to be invited to address\u00a0the Global Youth Mobilisation, an initiative by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Big 6 Youth Organisations, adding that\u00a0as a member of the Girl Guides and Girl Scouts Movement and a royal patron\u00a0of Girl Guides Association of Malaysia\u00a0she was proud to be part of the initiative.<br \/>\n\u201cI\u00a0wish\u00a0to congratulate WHO\u00a0and the Big 6 Youth Organisations for being proactive in recognising the positive response that young people could contribute to address the COVID-19\u00a0pandemic and playing an active role in the road to recovery by\u00a0creating this platform and resources to support them,\u201d she said.\u00a0<br \/>\nShe\u00a0also urged all governments,\u00a0businesses and communities to support young people through the Global Youth Mobilisation initiative.<br \/>\nTunku Azizah said\u00a0non-formal education has been adapted to be done by young people at home and virtually.<br \/>\nShe said\u00a0in fact, more international connections contributing to mutual understanding and world peace happened through many virtual events and programmes involving young people from different countries during this time.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cWe are extremely proud that two young girl guides from Malaysia were able to address the generation equality forum in Mexico,\u00a0as on normal days this would have involved lots of logistics and costs to get them there,\u201d she added.<br \/>\nShe also quoted Mia Arissa, the 11-year-old girl guide from Malaysia who spoke at the generation equality forum in Mexico recently,\u00a0on the potential of young people. &#8220;We are an investment not an expense. Do not underestimate our potential, just because we are considered young.
