KOTA KINABALU: Usukan assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak has gone down to the ground to give moral support for the search and rescue operation for a female student feared to have drowned while swimming in the Kedamaian River near Kg Pirasan on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon arrival at the scene early today, the former Sabah Chief Minister received a brief update from the security personnel on the current status of the operation, which has now entered its second day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also took the time to meet with and provide moral support to the family members of the missing student, who were gathered by the riverbank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The 16-year-old Form 4 student was reported missing around 3:30 PM while swimming in the river, prompting the launch of the search and rescue efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She was visiting her late father’s relatives during the trip to Kota Belud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The operation also involved members of the Water Rescue Team from Kudat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The body of the drowning victim was found this afternoon, nearly 2 kilometers from the incident site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
