KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak has put forward the idea that all original Sabahans should re-register their MyKad to address various documentation issues, including the burung-burung documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasised that it would be preferable for the entire registration process to be overseen by the Sabah government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“In Sabah, there are numerous types of documents, including the burung-burung documentation. Therefore, I believe it is crucial to reassess the entire registration process. We have been submitting proposals to Kuala Lumpur and even established a committee to address this issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“In the end, we dispute the data. Why not manage it through our state government? All stakeholders should be involved to prevent any manipulation for political gain,” he stated during his address at the Colloquium on Identity Issues in Sabah at the SICC today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Salleh noted that this proposal is not new, as he had previously raised it in Parliament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Of course, no one paid attention. They believe it cannot be accomplished. However, I am confident it can be done. It may require some funding from the government, but to demonstrate the commitment of the state government, let them manage this process,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Salleh, who is also the Usukan assemblyman, “If we take charge, we will be satisfied. We will not blame anyone else for any future issues. If something goes wrong, we can hold Sabahans accountable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Currently, if there is a problem, we attribute it to Kuala Lumpur. There are underlying agendas at play, and they are manipulating everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We assume this to be the case. But if we want to progress, we must take control of the entire process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The first step we need to take is to re-register original Sabahans through a proper mechanism,” he concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
