KOTA KINABALU: Sabahans need to be vigilant regarding certain factions that are inciting opposition against “Malaya parties” participating in the state election, as this could jeopardise the nation’s unity, warns Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He emphasised that stirring up sentiments to rally against peninsular-based parties in Sabah could breed animosity and undermine the existing harmony within the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bung Moktar urged the people of Sabah to maintain their unity, regardless of differing opinions, ideologies, or political affiliations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Political figures should exemplify the principles of unity, goodwill, and collective spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“It is disheartening to witness a resurgence of certain political leaders who are openly inciting hatred, including the ‘Anti Parti Malaya’ rhetoric, aimed at hindering Peninsular Malaysia parties from participating in the state elections,” he remarked after attending National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations organised by Kemas kindergartens in the Kinabatangan district recently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bung Moktar asserted that leaders aspiring to foster a united nation should act as champions of national unity and promote the message of togetherness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“As a democratic nation, there should be no concerns regarding whether local or national parties participate in elections. No party should face opposition for their intention to contest and govern this state,” stated the Sabah Umno chief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He noted that not only Umno but also other national parties have established a presence in Sabah and are currently part of the government, which is led by Sabahans themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This nation was founded on the principles of togetherness through a social contract that secured our independence. Previous leaders have championed national integration, embracing the diversity of races, religions, ethnicities, and cultures, rather than pushing for assimilation,” he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bung Moktar stressed that all Malaysians should cherish unity and diversity in their everyday lives. He called for everyone to uphold and practice these values.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
