KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Parks (TTS) will soon launch an online booking and permit application system to better facilitate hikers planning to climb Mount Kinabalu.<\/p>\n
Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Datuk Jafry Ariffin said the system would enable hikers to make a direct\u00a0booking and\u00a0payment\u00a0without having to go\u00a0through agents as\u00a0practiced previously.
\n\u201cI hope the system can make booking easier for hikers and will provide fair opportunities for\u00a0more extreme sports enthusiasts\u00a0to climb Malaysia\u2019s\u00a0highest mountain,\u201d he told reporters after the TTS appreciation ceremony at the Sabah International Convention Centre here, last night.
\nJafry said the booking\u00a0system was developed by a local company entrusted by TTS, in effort to improve\u00a0its services to attract domestic visitors and international tourists.
\nIn addition, he said online booking facility\u00a0to enter areas under TTS would also be developed in the near future.
\nMeanwhile, Jafry said, so far,\u00a0two tourism companies in the state have\u00a0received\u00a0the permission to conduct tourism activities under the travel bubble initiative, subject to the standard operating procedures\u00a0set by the authorities.
\nDuring the ceremony, Jafry presented\u00a0several awards to TTS personnel including\u00a0Excellence Service Award (2019 and 2020), 35 Years of Loyal\u00a0Service Award (2020) and Retiree Award 2020.
