{"id":2992,"date":"2021-04-01T20:44:29","date_gmt":"2021-04-01T12:44:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/?p=2992"},"modified":"2021-04-01T20:44:29","modified_gmt":"2021-04-01T12:44:29","slug":"grs-focusing-on-fulfilling-peoples-mandate-not-imitating-peninsulas-politics-hajiji","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/2021\/04\/01\/grs-focusing-on-fulfilling-peoples-mandate-not-imitating-peninsulas-politics-hajiji\/","title":{"rendered":"GRS focusing on fulfilling people&#8217;s mandate, not imitating Peninsula&#8217;s politics &#8211; Hajiji"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) component parties remain focused on realising the mandate of the people who want Sabah to be developed economically, and not allowing themselves to be influenced by the political situation in the peninsula.<\/p>\n<p>GRS chairman\u00a0Datuk Hajiji Noor, who is\u00a0also Sabah Chief Minister,\u00a0said these component parties had a very good political understanding in implementing the people\u2019s mandate, while the new mandate\u00a0obtained during the Sabah\u00a0state election last Sept\u00a026 must be respected\u00a0by all.<br \/>\n&#8220;When we\u2019ve got the people\u2019s mandate, we must fulfil it&#8230;that (political situation in the peninsula) does not trouble the situation\u00a0here because these are two different situations, so we cannot\u00a0follow\u00a0their ways there (peninsula).<br \/>\n&#8220;Although we are one country, we are\u00a0separated\u00a0far by the South China Sea\u2026.the\u00a0political situations (in Sabah\u00a0and the peninsula)\u00a0are very different,&#8221; said Hajiji, who is also Sabah\u00a0Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairnan, at\u00a0a news conference, here, today.<br \/>\nHe was\u00a0asked to\u00a0comment\u00a0on the statement by Sabah UMNO Liaison Committee chairman, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin\u00a0on the\u00a0state UMNO\u2019s stand\u00a0of prioritising\u00a0the interest of the people who yearned for\u00a0development, while also maintaining\u00a0cooperation with GRS\u00a0for the sake of the people.<br \/>\nThe statement\u00a0came following the latest political developments in the country with UMNO intending to go it alone in the 15th\u00a0General Election\u00a0(GE15).<br \/>\nAsked whether the political situation\u00a0in\u00a0the peninsula would have a bearing on\u00a0the distribution\u00a0of seats\u00a0among the GRS component parties for GE15,\u00a0Hajiji\u00a0said these parties would discuss\u00a0it to find the best solution.<br \/>\n\u2018I believe that\u00a0with the component party leaders\u2019 wisdom, we can reach a consensus\u00a0on the distribution of seats\u2026we don\u2019t need to fight over this, what\u2019s important is to win as many seats in Sabah,\u201d he added.<br \/>\nGRS is made up\u00a0of PN component parties\u00a0(Bersatu, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku, Sabah\u00a0Progressive Party\u00a0and\u00a0PAS); Barisan Nasional (UMNO, Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah, MCA and\u00a0MIC) and\u00a0\u00a0Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS).<br \/>\nEarlier, Hajiji\u00a0officiated at\u00a0the launch of the state-level RTM\u00a075th\u00a0anniversary celebration at the Communications and Multimedia Ministry\u2019s Integrated Complex in\u00a0Kepayan, here.<br \/>\n&#8211; BERNAMA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KOTA KINABALU: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) component parties remain focused on realising the mandate of the people who want Sabah to be developed economically, and not allowing themselves to be influenced by the political situation in the peninsula.
