KOTA KINABALU: Former Sabah chief minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak has criticised those concerned about the imbalance between successful non-Malay businessmen and their Malay counterparts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to FMM’s report, Salleh stated that these comparisons were not grounded in reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He argued that despite the presence of a small group of affluent Malay businessmen in Malaysia, the reality is that there is a larger number of extremely wealthy Malay politicians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to him, this larger number of prosperous Malay politicians helps to equalise the situation and alleviate any concerns regarding the higher number of wealthy non-Malays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In an interview with FMT, he stated, “It is widely acknowledged that affluent Malay politicians tend to favor non-Malay businessmen as their representatives.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When questioned about the Bumiputera economic congress, the ex-federal minister shared his observations of certain Malay groups expressing similar apprehensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Salleh further highlighted that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim had expressed optimism regarding the enhancement of the socio-economic status of the Bumiputera community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
