KOTA KINABALU: Former finance minister Tun Daim Zainuddin has announced that he will be facing charges in the Kuala Lumpur sessions court on January 29.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As reported by FMT, Daim’s lawyers have informed him that he will be charged under Section 36(2) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Act, which pertains to the disclosure of assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a statement issued in Kuala Lumpur today, Daim expressed his anticipation for his day in court.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also mentioned that MACC officers had taken his statement on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Notably, Daim’s wife, Naimah Khalid, recently pleaded not guilty in the Kuala Lumpur sessions court for allegedly failing to comply with an asset declaration notice from MACC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The charges against her include the failure to declare ownership of companies, various plots of land in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, as well as two vehicles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier this month, MACC summoned Naimah and her sons, Amir and Amin, to provide information regarding the family’s assets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was reported that MACC had issued a notice to Daim under Section 36(1)(a) of the MACC Act in June of last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
