MIRI: The Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah was moved to tears by the reception of the people of Sabah in welcoming the\u00a0Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri\u2019ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Her Majesty during the final lap of Their Majesties\u2019 Kembara Kenali Borneo tour in the state yesterday.
A\u00a0post on the Istana Negara Instagram account today shared a video clip depicting Tunku Azizah crying because the people of Sabah were willing to wait for the arrival of Their Majesties in heavy rain\u00a0during the royal couple’s journey from Kota Kinabalu to Sepitang, which is the convoy’s final destination before entering Lawas in Sarawak.
“Sabah is crying, I am also crying, the people are crying, the sky is crying but they are still out there in this heavy rain.\u00a0I (am) already half wet because I wound down the (car) window.
\u201cThank you so much. Tuanku (Al-Sultan Abdullah) and I will remember this for the rest of our lives\u2026 We are really sorry and we feel bad for\u00a0the people who are waiting out there in the rain because we cannot go down and see them.
“\u2026 only\u00a0Allah\u00a0S.W.T can repay and Tuanku and I pray that everyone will not be sick, will not have fever\u00a0for waiting in the rain for so long,\u201d Tunku Azizah said in the 40-second video clip that Her Majesty recorded.
The video clip had 200,000 views, with the comment section also filled with positive statements and appreciation for Their Majesties\u2019 concern.
“I was among those who stood in the rain yesterday in Beaufort town waiting for the arrival of Their Majesties. Although it was raining heavily, so much so there were umbrellas turned upside down, we still waited faithfully. Touched to see our Queen cry\u00a0yesterday. We love you, our King,\u201d commented an Instagram user with the name\u00a0@n_sal16.
“When the people have so much love. Doesn’t matter rain or shine,\u201d wrote\u00a0@lockmayphotography in the comment section.
The Kembara Kenali Borneo tour from Sept 3-13 began in Tawau, Sabah and will end in Telok Melano, Sematan, Sarawak, covering a distance of 2,154 kilometres along the Pan Borneo Highway that connects Sabah, Sarawak and Brunei.
