KOTA BELUD: Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) president Datuk Peter Anthony is confident that the party can pull off a “surprise” in the next state elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Peter said this was based on the growing support of Sabahans for the multi-racial party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Who would have thought that the KDM candidate would succeed in defeating a party leader in the Kota Marudu constituency in the recent parliamentary elections? <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Taking into account the current political scenario, don’t be surprise if KDM wins more seats in the upcoming state elections,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Peter, who is also the Melalap assemblyman, said this when officiating the Kota Belud KDM division protem Committee meeting at Sunset Beach, Kampung Nanamun, Jalan Rampaian Laut near here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Kota Belud KDM protem committee is currently led by former Parti Bersatu Sabah deputy president Datuk Almudin Kaida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also present were KDM Deputy President Datuk Wetrom Bahanda and vice president Henry Saimpon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Political campaigns for this year have yet to begin, but there will be an even stronger push for public support next year, said Peter. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also hinted at the party’s intention to contest for more seats in the upcoming state elections, especially in the interior and north of Sabah. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
“Although our party, KDM, is a small party, it moves like a turtle (labi-labi) but with the spirit of moving “palan-palan”, I am sure we will ultimately achieve success,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Peter also welcomed Almudin’s decision to join the KDM party which he said had paved the way for the establishment of Kota Belud KDM division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Wetrom said the KDM is eyeing to contest at least seven seats in northern Sabah, including Pintasan, in the next\u00a0state\u00a0elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
