PENAMPANG:: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim etched in history as the first Prime Minister to attend the state-level Kaamatan Festival at Hongkod Koisaan, near here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As expected, Anwar’s presence lived up to expectations of a national leader of all races. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking at the event, Anwar said the unity government was serious about solving various problems facing the people of the state, including water issues. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Therefore, a high-level meeting with central and state governments will be held tomorrow to find the best solution for Sabah’s water problems, he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
He further said that immediate steps have been taken to accelerate the implementation of the Pan-Borneo Highway Project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On Kaamatan, Anwar said the festival is a folk festival and each festival is a community celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Anwar also assured to provide RM1 million in aid to carry out KDCA activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am also waiting for the completion of the proposal\/working paper for the establishment of KDM University,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the unity government has always been committed to complying with the 1963 Malaysian Agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The closing ceremony of the state-level Kaamatan celebration was graced by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
