KOTA BHARU: The support and solid commitment of the people of Kelantan are needed in realising the Malaysia MADANI agenda, said Prime Minister\u00a0Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
\n\u201cThe Unity Government guarantees that\u00a0the rights of the\u00a0people,\u00a0regardless of religion and race,\u00a0will always be protected. The Federal\u00a0Constitution, the position of Malays,\u00a0Islam as the official religion of the country and the Malay Rulers will always be upheld.
\n\u201cThe government will also not compromise on corruption and malpractices through the implementation of governance reforms and by focusing on economic recovery in supporting and realising the national agenda for Developing\u00a0Malaysia Madani,\u201d\u00a0he said.
\nHe said this in his speech at the Madani Malaysia Open House at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium grounds, here today, which was also attended by Deputy Prime Ministers Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof as well as Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Yakob.
\nAnwar also\u00a0said that the government will always act fairly and will not\u00a0sideline\u00a0any state despite different political ideologies in order to ensure the comfort and well-being of the people.
\n\u201cMany efforts have been taken by the Unity Government to improve the economy and the standard of living of the people in Kelantan this year, such as increasing access to medical facilities for the local community and reducing overcrowding in\u00a0existing health facilities.
\nThe government has repaired and upgraded health clinics throughout Kelantan including\u00a0in Bachok, Gua Musang, Jeli, Kota Bharu and Kuala Krai totalling 38 facilities at a cost of RM9.3 million,\u201d\u00a0he said.
\nAnwar\u00a0said that\u00a0the government is also very concerned about the\u00a0frequent flooding that plagues\u00a0the people of Kelantan, adding that a number of studies have been conducted in an effort to find ways\u00a0to resolve the issue.
\n\u201cIn addition, the construction of the Palekbang Bridge will serve as\u00a0a\u00a0catalyst\u00a0for\u00a0development\u00a0in Tumpat and further boost the development of\u00a0Kota Bharu.
\n\u201cThe construction of the 1.29-kilometre\u00a0dual carriageway cable-stayed bridge is expected to be fully completed in 2025,\u201d\u00a0he said.
