KOTA KINABALU (BERNAMA): The ever-popular \u2018Rhino\u2019 is back as Sabah Football Club\u2019s (Sabah FC) new mascot, replacing the \u2018Tambadau\u2019 mascot for the upcoming Malaysia League season.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The mascot was reintroduced during the virtual launch of the new 2021 season Sabah FC jersey from Lotto on Sabah FC\u2019s official Facebook (Sabah Football Association) that saw the unveiling of \u201cThe Rhinos\u201d, the team\u2019s red main jersey bearing the design of a rhinoceros head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The second jersey or the ‘away’ jersey, is dubbed the \u201cBlue Kinabalu\u201d, with a more informal design and emblazoned with Sabah\u2019s iconic symbol, Mount Kinabalu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sabah FC team manager, Marzuki Nasir said the return of the rhino mascot was due to the requests of many football fans in Sabah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI have listened to the many voices of our fans out there who want us to bring back the rhino mascot and personally, the rhino is closer to me and our players as it has been with us since so long ago,\u201d he said when commenting on bringing back the rhino mascot during the launch today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the last Malaysia League season, the Sabah team had replaced the rhino with a new mascot \u2018Tambadau\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Meanwhile, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor expressed his hope that the management and players would give their full commitment in developing football in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
