KOTA KINABALU: Newly admitted\u00a0Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (PHRS) is confident that the participation of local parties in Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) can help fulfil the Sabah Maju Jaya objectives.
\nPHRS president\u00a0Tan Sri Liew Yun Fah said his party had since early on been friendly to and supportive of the state government on the basis of developing Sabah together.
\n\u201cThe main focus of PHRS is to move in the eastern part of\u00a0Sabah covering\u00a0Tawau, Kalabakan, Kunak, Semporna, Lahad Datu and\u00a0Sandakan.\u00a0
\n\u201cIn this connection,\u00a0PHRS\u2019 direction is clearly in line with\u00a0GRS because\u00a0PHRS wants to focus on the state\u2019s development, be independent and not tied to political\u00a0interference from outside,\u201d he said in a statement today.
\nLiew thanked\u00a0GRS chairman and Sabah Chief Minister\u00a0Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor as well as the coalition\u2019s leadership for its admission into GRS.
\nYesterday,\u00a0GRS secretary-general Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun was reported to have said that the GRS supreme council had unanimously approved the applications of PHRS and Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) to join the coalition.
\nThe\u00a0other component parties of GRS are\u00a0Parti\u00a0Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS), Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR), Sabah Progressive Party\u00a0(SAPP) and United Sabah National Organisation\u00a0(USNO).
