KOTA KINABALU: Prime Minister\u00a0Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged all political parties to stop fighting in Sabah and give space to Chief Minister\u00a0Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor to administer and develop the state.
\nAnwar said instead of using the political arena for staging endless fights and creating enmity, all quarters regardless of their background\u00a0should come together to develop Sabah.
\n\u201cNow that there is a mandate, use it\u00a0to take care of the state. As the\u00a0leadership has been chosen, we hold to the mandate. If you feel like fighting, wait for the election.
\n\u201cNow is the time to carry out the mandate to administer the state and uphold the dignity of the state and the people,\u201d he said when delivering his mandate to state and federal civil servants at the Sabah International Convention Centre here today.
\nAlso present were Hajiji, Home Minister\u00a0Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and Minister in the Prime Minister\u2019s Department\u00a0(Sabah, Sarawak Affairs and Special Functions) Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.
\nAnwar said among the matters emphasised in\u00a0Budget\u00a02023, which he tabled on Friday, was the eradication of hardcore poverty involving about\u00a0130,000 people.
\n\u201cThere are many\u00a0(hardcore poor) in\u00a0Sabah, so we will use all the strength of the state and federal governments to save these people,\u201d he said.
\nHe said it could be done with political will and he believed the people of Sabah were\u00a0committed in this matter.
