LAHAD DATU: The\u00a0Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) detained 14 Filipinos after screening 1,555 individuals during\u00a0a seven-day integrated\u00a0operation since Feb 20, in Semporna, said\u00a0its commander Datuk Hamzah Ahmad.
\nHe also said 102 individuals were also arrested to be documented followed by the arrest of 14 Filipinos aged between 17 and 47, for offences under the Immigration Act 1959\/63 (Amended 2002),\u00a0Immigration Regulations 1963\u00a0 and the Passport Act 1966.
\n“We also checked 440 houses including pondohan (small huts) in 11 locations in and around Pulau Bum Bum\u00a0as well as the clusters of Pulau\u00a0Bodgaya and Bohey Dulang together with the\u00a0Semporna District Office\u00a0 Enforcement Division, the Semporna District Council and the Labour Department.
\n\u201cWe also disconnected illegal electrical connections while the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) seized 110 kilogrammes of electrical cables and imposed fines while the district council issued compounds. We also\u00a0checked\u00a0316 vehicles and 76 traffic summonses were issued,\u201d he said in a statement here today.
\nHamzah also said the ESSCom will increase its efforts to ensure that safety in the areas surrounding the East Sabah Safety Zone (ESSZone) remains\u00a0guaranteed.
\nMeanwhile, he said he hoped that the community in the zone would relay any information involving any incident in the ESSZone area by contacting the ESSCOM Operations Centre at\u00a0089-863181 or through the WhatsApp application at 011-63311072.
