KOTA KINABALU: Tun Juhar Mahiruddin was sworn in for a fourth term as the Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri in a ceremony at Istana Seri Kinabalu here today.
\nTun Juhar, accompanied by his wife\u00a0Toh Puan Norlidah RM Jasni, arrived at\u00a0Dewan Istiadat at 10.30 am and took his oath of office about 10 minutes later.
\nTun Juhar then signed the instruments of oath of office, witnessed by Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak Tan Sri Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim, before Chief Minister\u00a0Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor delivered the congratulatory message and pledge of loyalty.
\nSabah state mufti Datuk Bungsu\u00a0@Aziz Jaafar then read prayers for the state\u2019s well-being under the guidance of Tun Juhar, before the\u00a0Yang Dipertua Negeri left the place at\u00a011 am.
\nAlso present were Sabah Deputy Chief Minister\u00a0Datuk Seri\u00a0Dr Joachim Gunsalam, Sabah State Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Kadzim M Yahya and State Secretary\u00a0Datuk Seri Safar Untong.\u00a0
\nOn Dec\u00a023,\u00a0Tun Juhar received his letter of appointment from Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah at\u00a0Istana Negara in\u00a0Kuala Lumpur to serve another two-year term as Yang Dipertua Negeri.
\nTun Juhar, 69, was appointed as the 10th\u00a0Yang Dipertua Negeri of Sabah on Jan\u00a01,\u00a02011, succeeding\u00a0Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah.
\nHajiji, in his speech, said with the guidance of\u00a0Tun Juhar, Sabah was now on the right track to boost economic growth and intensify development through the\u00a0Sabah Maju Jaya Development Plan 1.0 (2021 to\u00a02025).
\n\u201cThe implementation of this comprehensive and holistic development plan has produced\u00a0a positive impact, including increasing foreign and domestic investments,\u00a0positive developments in the tourism sector and implementation of development programmes in all sectors,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He expressed confidence that Sabah would continue to enjoy peace and prosperity under the auspices of Tun Juhar, a symbol of unity for the people and leaders of various backgrounds in the state.
\nOn behalf of the leaders and people of Sabah, Hajiji congratulated\u00a0Tun Juhar and pledged loyalty to the Yang Dipertua Negeri.
