{"id":17303,"date":"2022-12-10T13:12:08","date_gmt":"2022-12-10T05:12:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/?p=17303"},"modified":"2022-12-10T13:12:08","modified_gmt":"2022-12-10T05:12:08","slug":"bersatu-sabah-leaders-decide-to-leave-party-hajiji","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/2022\/12\/10\/bersatu-sabah-leaders-decide-to-leave-party-hajiji\/","title":{"rendered":"Bersatu Sabah leaders decide to leave party &#8211; Hajiji"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KOTA KINABALU: Leaders of Bersatu\u00a0Sabah have unanimously decided to leave the party but will\u00a0remain under Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), said Bersatu Sabah chief\u00a0Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.<br \/>\nHajiji, who is GRS chairman, said the decision was taken after having considered Malaysia\u2019s current political landscape, particularly that of Sabah\u2019s.\u00a0<br \/>\n\u201cThis unanimous decision is in the interest of Sabah, for the sake of unity and to fulfil the rakyat\u2019s wish and aspiration for us to fight and struggle under the auspices of a local party,\u201d he said in a statement today.<br \/>\nThe Sabah Chief Minister said with this decision, they would now use GRS\u00a0to voice out Sabah\u2019s interests and that of the Borneon\u00a0states in Malaysia.<br \/>\n\u201cMoving forward, we will form a new local party but in the meantime we will collectively be members of GRS.\u00a0<br \/>\nWe pledge our full support to the Unity Government and we are confident of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim\u2019s leadership and wisdom to lead the country,\u201d he added.<br \/>\nGRS, which before this comprised\u00a0Bersatu, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR), Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) and United Sabah National Organisation\u00a0(USNO), cooperates with Barisan Nasional (BN) to administer\u00a0Sabah.<br \/>\nHajiji said the Bersatu\u00a0Sabah\u2019s leadership decision to leave Bersatu was\u00a0based on the premise that the situation was\u00a0no longer tenable to remain in the status quo.<br \/>\n\u201cThis is because at the federal level Bersatu\u00a0is in the opposition while\u00a0GRS has pledged support to the Unity Government led by\u00a0Anwar,\u201d he said.<br \/>\n\u201cSabah wants political stability and unity. We want to ensure momentum in Sabah\u2019s growth and development and to see that Sabah prospers in accordance with the mandate given to us in the last elections (Sabah state polls).<br \/>\n\u201cWe are confident that this decision will be good for political unity and stability in Sabah,\u201d he said.<br \/>\nHe pointed out that the Sabah Maju Jaya vision is to ensure Sabah\u2019s economic recovery and that unity among the people prevails.<br \/>\nIt was\u00a0our commitment together with Sarawak as the Borneo Bloc to voice out the people\u2019s aspiration and to see that the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) would\u00a0be fully implemented, he said.<br \/>\n\u201cWe thank the president of Bersatu\u00a0and chairman of Perikatan Nasional, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, for his leadership during our tenure as Bersatu\u00a0members,\u201d he added.<br \/>\nGRS won six parliamentary seats in the recent general election and has 30 state assemblymen in Sabah, including three appointed members.<br \/>\n&#8212; BERNAMA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KOTA KINABALU: Leaders of Bersatu\u00a0Sabah have unanimously decided to leave the party but will\u00a0remain under Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), said Bersatu Sabah chief\u00a0Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
