KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Ministry of Community Development and\u00a0People’s Well-being has developed a new online application system for welfare assistance that will be operational on Jan 1 next year, the Sabah State Assembly was told today.
\nIts assistant minister,\u00a0 Datuk Flovia Ng said the system, developed through the General Welfare Services Department (JKPA),\u00a0 aimed to provide facilities, especially to the vulnerable and needy.
\n\u00a0“This online application is provided for the convenience of those in need for their comfort and well-being,” she said in response to an oral question from Dr Daud Yusof\u00a0(Warisan-Bongawan) on the ministry’s efforts to help those in need.
\nThe system can be accessed via the link:\u00a0http:\/\/jpka.sabah.gov.my.
\nShe\u00a0said JPKA still provides monthly assistance to the vulnerable and needy like\u00a0general aid. as well as for\u00a0orphans,\u00a0 senior citizens and people with disabilities (PwDs).
\nAid for some of the recipients was terminated due\u00a0to several factors, which included\u00a0the recipients did not report themselves to the welfare office over a period of three months.\u00a0\u00a0
\n\u201cThere are also recipients under the child support category\u00a0who are disqualified in cases\u00a0when their child has turned 18 or has died,” she added.
\nMeanwhile, Sabah Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun,\u00a0who is also\u00a0Local Government and Housing Minister, said the state government had collected\u00a0Sales Tax on Petroleum Products amounting to RM1.79 billion until yesterday (Nov 28).
\n\u00a0“I am happy to inform you that the amount of State Sales Tax on Petroleum Products that has been collected is higher than what we expected and estimated for this year,” he said in response to an oral question from Datuk Seri Yong Teck Lee (SAPP-Appointed) on the matter.
