SANDAKAN: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate for Sandakan Lau Chi Keong @ Thomas Lau assures Sandakan constituents he will give his best to serve them if he is elected as Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n
Promises are meant to be kept and I intend to honour my election pledges to the people of Sandakan should they give me the mandate on Nov 19.<\/p>\n
Lau said during the \u201cCeramah Perdana Sandakan Ketua Menteri Bersama Rakyat \u201dprogramme at the Hakka Hall here on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat I have promised in my political talk sessions are not lies to win votes but something I am committed to do for Sandakan through my five-point development plan,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
First, Lau said, he would propose for the setting up of a special committee to work closely with the State and Federal Governments to identify and implement measures to revive Sandakan\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n
\u201cSecondly, I will propose for the construction of a recreation centre in Sim Sim with a beautiful view of Pulau Berhala for families to spend leisure time activities together,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Apart from this, Lau said he would upgrade the markets in Elopura and Kim Fung, proposed for the construction of a technical college to produce competitive youths, create more employment opportunities to reduce the migration of youths to Peninsula Malaysia and other parts of this region. <\/p>\n
Lau is also determined to realise the wish of local folks to have an Urban Transformation Centre in Sandakan. <\/p>\n
\u201cThis is part of the mission which I will set out to achieve if I am elected by the Sandakan electorates.
