{"id":16560,"date":"2022-11-09T15:24:16","date_gmt":"2022-11-09T07:24:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/?p=16560"},"modified":"2022-11-09T15:24:16","modified_gmt":"2022-11-09T07:24:16","slug":"laus-vast-experience-will-ensure-effective-and-efficient-service-delivery-to-sandakan-people","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/2022\/11\/09\/laus-vast-experience-will-ensure-effective-and-efficient-service-delivery-to-sandakan-people\/","title":{"rendered":"Lau\u2019s vast experience will ensure effective and efficient service delivery to Sandakan people"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SANDAKAN: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate for P186 Sandakan Lau Chi Keong @ Thomas Lau\u2019s experience in civil service and business will ensure effectiveness and efficiency in service delivery to Sandakan folks.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during a media conference at his operations centre, Lau said having served in the Sandakan Municipal Council gave him a better understanding and insight into how government ministries, departments, and agencies work.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI understand the government administration system and structures very well; I know how they (civil servants) work because I was once a civil servant,\u201d the SAPP vice president added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter I retired, for 16 years I was in business, so I also have the experience, knowledge, and contacts among the business community that will definitely help me in my work to benefit the people here,\u201d he said.  <\/p>\n<p>Lau, who has a Diploma in Public Health, from the Royal Society of Health London and Public Health Institute, Republic of Singapore, served in the Sandakan Municipal Council from 1973 and was the deputy president in 1999 until his retirement in 2005.  <\/p>\n<p>He said he opined the biggest issue faced by the people now is the increasing cost of living, which makes him determined to strive towards reviving  Sandakan\u2019s stagnant economy.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must attract both domestic and foreign investors to invest in Sabah, particularly Sandakan. Sandakan is not an area without resources. We have a lot \u2013 land, palm oil, tourism, and supply chain, among others.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSandakan also has huge potentials in agriculture and fisheries sectors. My priority is to ensure that the people will have food on the table. It is a bread-and-butter issue,\u201d he said.  <\/p>\n<p>Lau assured that if he is given the mandate by Sandakan voters as their Member of Parliament, the well-beings of the Sandakan people will be among his top agendas.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy message is, give me a chance to serve you, I can assure to give you the best result.
