{"id":16302,"date":"2022-11-01T13:59:44","date_gmt":"2022-11-01T05:59:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/?p=16302"},"modified":"2022-11-01T13:59:44","modified_gmt":"2022-11-01T05:59:44","slug":"number-of-flood-evacuees-in-sabah-rises-to-75","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/2022\/11\/01\/number-of-flood-evacuees-in-sabah-rises-to-75\/","title":{"rendered":"Number of flood evacuees in Sabah rises to 75"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KOTA KINABALU: The number of flood victims in Sabah\u00a0rose to 75\u00a0people from 14 families this morning, up from 66 (13 families)\u00a0last night, according to the state\u00a0Disaster Management Committee Secretariat.<br \/>\nIt said nine people from one family were being\u00a0housed at a relief centre at\u00a0the Penampang Sports Complex Swimming Pool which was opened at 3.30 am today\u00a0while 66\u00a0evacuees from 13\u00a0families remained at\u00a0Kampung Airport Tun Fuad hall in\u00a0Kunak.<br \/>\n&#8220;So far, two districts have been affected by floods, namely Penampang and Kunak, and one relief centre\u00a0has been opened in each of those districts.\u00a0The weather is rainy this morning,&#8221; it said in a\u00a0statement.<br \/>\nMeanwhile, the Department of Irrigation and Drainage on its website informed that as at\u00a08 am, Sungai Pegalan in Ansip, Keningau recorded 241.81\u00a0metres, above the danger point of 241.5\u00a0metres while the level of\u00a0Sungai Padas in\u00a0Tenom was at the alert level of\u00a0157.57 metres.<br \/>\nSabah\u00a0Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre\u00a0spokesman,\u00a0when contacted said, a landslide was reported on\u00a0Jalan Kota Kinabalu-Keningau-Tenom at 2.39 am believed to be due to continuous heavy rain.<br \/>\nNo casualties were reported, however the road is\u00a0inaccessible to all types of vehicles and\u00a0road users are asked to use the Jalan Tenom-Spitang alternative road,&#8221; he said.<br \/>\nThe spokesman said\u00a0flash floods in\u00a0Taman Sri Keningau, Keningau had forced eight\u00a0people out of their homes.<br \/>\n\u201cThey are being housed at\u00a0the Masjid Madrasah,\u00a0but no relief centre\u00a0has been opened so far, the operation ended at 2.05 am,&#8221; he said.<br \/>\nIn TAWAU, continuous heavy rain since yesterday caused\u00a0flash floods in several areas\u00a0including Rawa-Rawa Batu 4, Jalan Damai, Lorong Haji Muis and Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu 22 Jalan Apas.<br \/>\n&#8212; BERNAMA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KOTA KINABALU: The number of flood victims in Sabah\u00a0rose to 75\u00a0people from 14 families this morning, up from 66 (13 families)\u00a0last night, according to the state\u00a0Disaster Management Committee Secretariat.
