KOTA KINABALU: Sabah celebrated the Warrior\u2019s Day on Sunday that saw medical workers who combatted the Covid-19 pandemic standing side-by-side with other frontliner contingents.
\nChief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor accompanied Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin at the ceremony that was held together with the launching of the National Day Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang programme at Padang Merdeka here.
\nThe ceremony was also opened to the public for the first time after two years now that the country is in the transition phase.
\nThe main highlight of the Warrior\u2019s Day celebration was a pantomime by the Army Malay Regiment, renacting the succesful defense of the Kalabakan Post during the 1963 confrontation incident.
\nOn Dec 29, 1963, the company leader and seven soldiers died while thwarting the advancing enemies at the border in Kalabakan.
\nLater, Juhar accompanied by Hajiji and Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun who is also the main organising committee chairman visited the exhibition booths set up around Padang Merdeka.
\nTo mark the launch of the National Day Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang programme, the Head of State together with Hajiji and Masidi flagged off the 15-vehicle convoy that will travel throughout Sabah.
