KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) acting chief executive officer Roslan Ariffin has been appointed as the CEO of the news agency effective today.
\nHis appointment was announced by Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa in a statement today.
\n\u201cI am confident that with his expertise and knowledge, this appointment will continue to drive excellence and give a new boost to Bernama, especially in leading the journalism industry in the country,\u201d he said.
\nRoslan, 56, succeeded Datuk Mokhtar Hussain, whose contract expired on Feb 19 this year.
\nRoslan, who holds a degree in communications from Universiti Teknologi MARA\u00a0(UiTM), began his career in Bernama as a journalist in 1990 and was made acting CEO on March 21 this year.
\nRoslan possesses wide experience and held various key posts in Bernama, including bureau chief, head of programme BernamaTV, executive editor, head of broadcasting (TV and Radio), before he was appointed as deputy editor-in-chief, business and finance.
\nApart from this, he was also seconded to the Department of Broadcasting, Malaysia\u00a0(RTM) for four years from 2008 to 2012, including as chief reporter, chief editor and deputy director of current affairs section.
