KOTA KINABALU: The Curtin University Malaysia paid a courtesy call on Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Jeffrey Kitingan at his office in the Sabah Assembly Building here today.<\/p>\n
The visit was led by Curtin University Malaysia Vice Chancellor Professor Simon Leunig.<\/p>\n
Kitingan thanked the university, saying the meeting was constructive and that he and Leunig discussed wide range of topics on education and the role the university might play in Sabah.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe purpose of the visit was to discuss potential partnership between Curtin University and our local Yayasan Sabah Technical College.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are excited to explore the opportunity of offering Curtin University\u2019s diploma and degree courses via twin programmes or credit transfers programmes to our students.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy vision is for our young people to pursue engineering degrees, IT, and new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Kitingan stated that because an engineering degree takes at least four years of study, Sabahans may soon be able to complete their two-year diploma locally before continuing on to the remaining two years in Perth, Australia or Singapore or any other Curtin University branch of their choice.<\/p>\n
