{"id":10819,"date":"2022-03-19T16:20:52","date_gmt":"2022-03-19T08:20:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/?p=10819"},"modified":"2022-03-19T16:20:52","modified_gmt":"2022-03-19T08:20:52","slug":"return-of-sabahs-rights-under-ma63-pcs-pleased-umno-bn-promises-to-return-rights","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jesseltontimes.com\/wpmarch2025\/2022\/03\/19\/return-of-sabahs-rights-under-ma63-pcs-pleased-umno-bn-promises-to-return-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"Return of Sabah\u2019s rights under MA63: PCS pleased Umno, BN promises to return rights"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KOTA KINABALU: Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) is delighted that Umno and  Barisan Nasional promises to implement the Malaysia Agreement 1963.<\/p>\n<p>PCS President Datuk Seri Panglima Anifah Aman says that UMNO had reiterated its promise to return Sabah\u2019s rights enshrined in the document and believes that UMNO and BN will keep it\u2019s word in fulfilling the promise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very reassuring to hear the Umno President reiterating the promise during the Umno General Assembly yesterday,\u201d says Anifah.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPCS and all Sabahans are looking forward to the fulfilment of this promise. The return of Sabah\u2019s rights enshrined in the MA63 should be implemented and I believe President UMNO\u2019s reiteration of this promise shows his sincerity and that he has not forgotten his promise,\u201d he said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Anifah, who has been a strong advocate of Sabah\u2019s rights, is commenting on Umno President Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi\u2019s speech during the party\u2019s assembly on Friday.<br \/>\nZahid, who had previously assured that Umno would see to it that Sabahans will get back their rights under the MA63, has renewed the party\u2019s vow to make it happen once and for all.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s not forget our friends in Sabah and Sarawak. We promise that the Malaysia Agreement must be implemented by Umno and Barisan Nasional. And this is our promise to our friends in Sabah and Sarawak. This is to reduce the regional gap among us,\u201d Zahid reportedly said.<\/p>\n<p>Anifah, a former Malaysian Foreign Minister and Kimanis MP, had said previously said that he believed Zahid was a man who would not betray his own word.<br \/>\n\u201cPCS is willing to work with West Malaysian Parties for the benefit of the people of Sabah and the betterment of the State\u201d, Anifah added.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, among the many issues highlighted by Zahid during the party assembly, one hot matter on party-hopping was deliberated at lenght.<\/p>\n<p>On this, Anifah again reiterated PCS\u2019 call for the tabling of an enactment of a recall petition  where an elected representative who wants to jump to another party would automatically lose the seat. He or she  would also be terminated from the party and position.<\/p>\n<p> PCS first proposed the recall petition during the previous Sabah State Election in 2020. <\/p>\n<p>He said through a recall petition, elected representatives are subject to hiring and firing by the constituents.<br \/>\n\u201cLet\u2019s never forget that the seat belongs to the people, not the individual elected nor his or her political party,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KOTA KINABALU: Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) is delighted that Umno and Barisan Nasional promises to implement the Malaysia Agreement 1963.
