PENAMPANG: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has kept mum over the objections raised by several GRS leaders against the implementation of the Madani Village Community Committee (JKDM) in Sabah.
During the National Level Kaamatan Festival at Hongkod Koisaan KDCA, the Prime Minister concluded his speech without addressing the issue at hand.
The fate of the JKDM implementation remains uncertain. Time will reveal the outcome.
Prior to this, the Sabah community eagerly anticipated the Prime Minister’s stance on the JKDM implementation.
It is understood that a portion of the appointment letters have already been handed over to the appointed chairmen of the JKDM in several state constituencies in Sabah, while the rest will be carried out in the near future.
Deputy Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Dr. Jeffrey Kitingan, had previously emphasised that the state government leaders would express their opposition to the implementation of JKDM Madani in Sabah during the visit.
Jeffrey pointed out that Sabah already has the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) in place, rendering the JKDM initiative under the Ministry of Rural Development and Regional Development (KKDW) redundant.
On the contrary, Sabah UMNO chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin defended the establishment of JKDM in the state, highlighting its role in coordinating programmes to enhance the economy and entrepreneurship of village residents to combat hardcore poverty in Sabah.
