Sabah UMNO election director Jeffrey Nor Mohamed has advised Ewon to embrace the spirit of the Unity Government, despite the lack of visible unity in Sabah.

He believes that the President of the United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) should be pleased with the appointment of colleagues who support the unity government, as it allows him to serve as a federal minister.

Jeffrey stated in a media statement that if Ewon requires more information, he can obtain it from the ministry responsible for implementing the programme, rather than “seeking popularity” by publicly expressing his disagreement.

He further emphasised that Ewon should protect the dignity of the unity government by discussing his concerns within the cabinet.

Jeffrey Nor, the Putatan UMNO Chief, suggested that Ewon should express his opinion during cabinet meetings instead of making public statements about the appointment of JKDM.

He stressed the importance of working together to ensure proper representation for the people of Sabah, especially considering the state’s infrastructure challenges and its ranking as the poorest state.

According to Jeffrey, leaders like Ewon should prioritise assisting the people and temporarily set aside political considerations.

Finally, Jeffrey stated that if Ewon still disagrees with the decisions made by other ministries, which have the approval of the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, then he has the option to resign as a minister.
