KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno has suggested the possibility of establishing a coalition with other political parties in preparation for the upcoming state election.

Sabah Umno chief Bung Moktar Radin emphasized that given the current political landscape in the state, a coalition would be essential to secure power during the elections.

“According to the current political situation, including in Sabah, there will never (be) one single party (in power), so we need a coalition,” Bernama quoted Bung as telling reporters in Kota Kinabalu on Friday.

The last election in Sabah took place in September 2020, and the state assembly is set to be dissolved by October next year, triggering the need for a state election within 60 days.

Bung highlighted the importance of a coalition in light of the existing political scenario in Sabah, stating that a single party would not be sufficient to meet the expectations of the people.

He stressed the significance of forming a new coalition to bring stability to the political environment in Sabah.

Previously, there were reports indicating that UMNO Sabah would collaborate with Warisan and KDM, PBRS to face the upcoming PRN.
