KOTA KINABALU: The Renewable Energy Association of Sabah (REASabah) paid a courtesy visit to the University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) today at its campus in Sembulan.
The delegation was led by its Chairman, Datuk Ir. Peter Lajumin, together with its Deputy Chairman, Datuk Dr. Kok Tiong Chee, and EXCOM members Ir. Cheng Sau Yee, Ir. Albert Chia Ket Shin, and Loraine Binti Lowrince.
The delegation from REASabah was received by Dr. Rafiq Idris, the Vice Chancellor.
UCSF and REASabah expressed their interest in collaborating on areas related to renewable energies in particular and energy developments in Sabah to preserve the state’s heritage in the green environment as a whole.
This potential collaboration is part of UCSF’s ongoing efforts to complement research on the energy sector, specifically renewable energies.
Dr. Rafiq, the Vice Chancellor of UCSF, stated that UCSF will work with relevant stakeholders who have the competency and expertise in the energy sector to complement the research needs, as well as educate students and researchers on matters related to energy.
The Chairman of REASabah, Datuk Ir. Peter Lajumin, thanked the host for the hospitality to receive the REASabah delegation and informed them that the objective of REASabah is to provide a platform for the sharing of experiences amongst members, which comprise developers and operators in renewable energies as well as consultancy service providers in various green renewable energy schemes. REASabah is confident that there are an enormous quantum of green renewable energy resources that can be exploited while preserving the green environment heritage in the state, and inputs and participation from academic institutions are imperative in this process.
