LAHAD DATU: UMNO Sabah Treasurer Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak said that the upcoming Sabah state election (PRN) is crucial in determining the party’s survival in the state.
Therefore, he urged the people, especially UMNO members, to fully prepare themselves before entering the political battlefield of the 17th state election.
“Our preparation for facing the PRN must not stop. We need to help each other face this election.
“Our goal is to ensure that UMNO becomes the choice of the Sabah people again,” he said.
Salleh, who is also the Usukan Assemblyman, said this in his speech when officiating the Lahad Datu UMNO division’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri Open House celebration at the SMK Terusan Hall near here today.
He said that the people should choose a well-organised party, and in this case, the UMNO community is capable of uniting the people in this state.
Meanwhile, speaking to the media, the former Sabah Chief Minister welcomed the announcement by the Prime Minister to allocate RM80 million to establish the National Heart Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (HQE) in Kota Kinabalu.
“We welcome this announcement, as it not only facilitates the people of Sabah but also reduces costs for obtaining specialized treatment, especially related to heart diseases.
“And we hope that the federal government will address the issues and shortcomings in terms of healthcare facilities in this state holistically,” he said.
Regarding the celebrations of Hari Raya Aidilfitri and other festivals, including Chinese New Year and Kaamatan Festival, Salleh said that it is the best platform to strengthen the unity of the multi-ethnic people in this state.
