KOTA KINABALU: Dr. Akmal Saleh mentioned today that he was held at the Kota Kinabalu police headquarters, even though he was supposed to provide a statement at the Dang Wangi police station tomorrow.
According to a Facebook post cited by FMT, the Umno Youth chief expressed his willingness to fully cooperate with the authorities.
“Let us hope that everything will be arranged smoothly. I will not waver from our position,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Sabah UMNO chief Datuk Bung Moktar Radin was recently quoted as saying that Akmal had been instructed by the party’s leadership to cease raising the issue of KK Mart and its controversial sale of socks bearing the word “Allah”.
Bung said that Akmal was directed to stand down after it was discovered that KK Mart had no control over the supply of the socks and had promptly issued an apology.
Bung further highlighted that both party president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and the king had called for an end to the issue.
