The people of Sabah want to see results, not a catchy slogan, Jeffrey Nor

KOTA KINABALU: The State Government must promptly address the fundamental infrastructure issues concerning water supply, electricity, and roads to align with the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) slogan.

Sabah UMNO election director Jeffrey Nor Mohamed said that the local language phrase ‘berkulut’ used in ‘Aku Janji SMJ’ is not understood by villagers if basic issues such as roads, water, and electricity are not resolved by the government.

He said that the people will embrace the ‘Sabah Maju Jaya’ slogan if the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government can address these issues promptly.

“Let’s not have the ‘avoidance’ syndrome anymore because the people of Sabah want to see results quickly. The ‘Sabah Maju Jaya’ state emblem should not be used to gain support if the achievements do not yield the expected results.

“I have noticed that my statement has not been answered by the Gagasan Rakyat Information Chief, Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan… It’s okay; maybe he (Nizam) is not willing to respond,” he said in a statement today.

Jeffrey Nor, the Putatan UMNO chief, said that Nizam should be aware that the water scarcity issue has been ongoing for five days in residential areas.

“How long can the people accept the Sabah Maju Jaya slogan? Imagine that even my own house is affected by this water shortage. What is there to be proud of with Sabah Maju Jaya?

“This issue certainly raises doubts among the people of Sabah with several promises made by the Sabah state government, especially regarding the Sabah Maju Jaya slogan,” explained Jeffrey Nor.

In related developments, Jeffrey wants the people of Sabah to question how the E-Kasih System, a database for poor families established at the national level to help plan, implement, and monitor poverty programs, is functioning.
