Construction of the new Ranau District Mosque Likely To Be Completed By April this year – Masidi

RANAU: The construction of the new mosque in Ranau distriict is expected to be completed by April this year.

Sabah Finance Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, said that the project was supposed to have been completed last year but was delayed due to the contractor’s failure to meet the designated timeframe.

He said that at the end of last year, the abandoned federal project was resumed with an additional cost of approximately RM2.68 million.

“If everything goes well, we hope that this new mosque will be fully completed by April this year,” he said.

Masidi told reporters after officiating the closing ceremony of the sports carnival and Kenduri Kampung event organised by the Karanaan Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah division here on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Masidi said that the project for the intake of water sources to help stabilise the water supply during floods, which can cause the Ranau District Water Department Plant to be clogged with sand and mud, is expected to be ready early next year.

Commenting on the MRSN Ranau school project, which was completed last year, Masidi said the MRSN school is expected to start operating this March.

According to him, with the availability of the MRSN school, it is believed to be a “game changer” for Ranau, especially in the field of education.

Asked to comment on the sports carnival and Kenduri Kampung event, Masidi welcomed the programme, saying that it not only strengthens the rapport among party members but also with the local community.
