SANDAKAN: Vision Primary School Sandakan is committed to providing high-quality education and a holistic approach to children’s development.
Recently, a group of thirty-four Primary 5 students, accompanied by a team of nine dedicated teachers, embarked on a nature exploration trip to Sandakan Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC) during the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holiday.
Vision Primary School Sandakan, in a statement, said the trip was specially arranged to allow students to experience and appreciate the knowledge learned in class in practical life.
Prior to the trip, the teachers had led the students in exploring the topic of tropical rainforests, specifically the 15th SDG goal of land biodiversity, in class.
The students learned about the structure of tropical rainforests and the characteristics of plants within them.
Through incorporating relevant teaching content related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into various subjects every year, students at Vision Primary School Sandakan cultivate values of loving the earth and the world from an early age and become students with a global perspective.
Students enhance their sense of social responsibility and problem-solving abilities with SDG topics.
The school arranged comfortable buses to transport the students and invited professional guide to explain the knowledge of various endangered animals and plants to the students.
The guide also led the students into the rainforest to observe various plants and experience the beauty of nature. The trip allowed students to understand the importance of protecting tropical rainforests and motivated them to develop a deeper interest in the topic.
During the field trip, the teachers required students to record the characteristics and names of some animals and plants introduced by the guide. This not only helped students complete their own tropical rainforest introduction assignments upon returning to school but also trained their ability to integrate the knowledge they had learned.
Vision Primary School Sandakan’s commitment to providing a well-rounded education is evident in the success of this nature exploration trip.
